For a company at Amsterdam we are looking for a Sales Manager.

Purpose of this job is to manage and develop a pipeline of leasing opportunities outsite the existing customer base and convert these to sales, attracting and retaining business from all areas of commerce. The role is primarily focussed on and accountable for delivering new lettings and retaining signed new business at the Data Centre. The objective of the role will be to actively contribute to and support the local organization in achieving the lettings targets as set out in the annual business plan.

The role will be entitled to participate in the sales commission plan and key account management plan. It is anticipated that the role will participate in all stages of the sales process, including contract negotiations and the entitlement to commission under the sales commission plan which will reflect the level of direct involvement in each new letting.

  • To support the Managing Director in identifying vertical markets and sub markets with primarily shared data suite and small wholesale Data Centre needs and prioritize target companies within those markets by conducting research and using existing knowledge of the marketplace.
  • To identify the key stakeholders and influencers within, or outside of, the target companies and engage with them to set out the offering to them. This may or may not include in intermediaries e.g. inward investment agencies, local Authorities, Chambers of Commerce, consultant advisors.
  • To respond to requests for information or proposals effectively and within any specified time constraints by liaising internally as necessary to obtain the necessary information and present it in a professional and factually correct manner.
  • To negotiate and conclude terms with prospect customers, ensuring all internal due diligence and authorization procedures are followed from the initial enquiry stage through customer presentations, proposals and on the final negotiations and closing of the contract, ensuring all internal due diligence and authorization procedures are followed.
  • Precise customer needs should be determined in conjunction with the local management team and an ongoing relationship developed with customers to help them manage any changing requirements, to fulfil current and future needs.
  • To act as account manager to customers determined by group or locally bij developing an ongoing relationship with them and assist them in managing any changing requirements to fulfil current and future needs.


  • To understand the existing offering through regular liaison with Marketing and Communications.
  • To identify the key needs of the market and sub market verticals through researching requirements.
  • To work with marketing to create key messaging for inclusion in marketing collateral.
  • To work with marketing to identify suitable vehicles to carry messaging and support the development of new ideas.
  • To use collateral and vehicles to promote us, its brand and offering to the markets identified to promote market awareness in the local market to generate sales leads.

Sales Management Related Activities

  • To ensure all contractual documentation is managed smoothly and effectively, kept up to date and distributed or referred onwards as necessary.
  • To manage the relationship with leasing agents (where retained) and other referral partners in a professional and proactive manner.
  • To manage identified key customer accounts in accordance with the Key Account Management Policy. This will involve working closely with the Data Center teams and the Sales, Marketing and Communications functions to maximize leads and cross-selling opportunities throughout the network. Excellent communications across the global team is essential to this.
  • To utilize the Sales and customer relationship database (Salesforce) effectively.
  • To collaborate with Group Strategic Accounts & Networks teams and the regional Sales Director in developing pipeline of leasing opportunities and convert these to sales.


To support the Managing Director in managing the Sales function reporting required by the Regional Director and the Group. Provision of feedback and reporting to key personnel/departments by following the formats, reporting requirements/timelines and timing structures issued by the company to ensure excellent communication is maintained between functions and that Senior management is provided with the necessary level of information including:

  • Sales performance reporting
  • Quantitive feedback on account managed i.e. their strategic direction and short term objectives
  • Opportunity status reporting (weekly)
  • Agreed heads of terms (as necessary)
  • Group initiatives reporting (as necessary)
  • Occupancy reports and updates (as necessary)
  • Feedback on competitor activity
  • By keeping up to date data and information as it is created or gathered, whilst maintaining excellent communication with all departments
  • Ad hoc reporting as required by Managing Director of the Regional Sales Director.

  • information Technology, Telecommunications or Property valuation related qualifications

Essential Previous Experience

  • Business development experience in carious Enterprise segments
  • Demonstrable senior level customer facing experience which combines both commercial and engineering aspects
  • Commercial Agency or Corporate real Estate accrued experience which demonstrates leading complex negotiations, over en extended period of time.

Desirable Previous Experience

  • Business development experience in the AMS Data Centre market,
  • Significant experience in a production, mission-critical, revenue-dependent, 24x7 Data Centre environment

  • Self-confident, enthusiastic, competitive, must have the ability to motivate, influence and persuade others
  • Sel-starter and comfortable on own initiative, able to achieve results through people
  • Pro-active, forward thinker, 'one-step ahead' sales professional, able to identify needs, overcome objections and provide solutions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, in Dutch & English as the role requires consistent reporting and provision of a high quality of information internally and externally
  • Analytical and task focused approach
  • An ability to maintain professional composure and positive approach in pressurized situations
  • Fluent business English

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office i.e. word, outlook
  • Knowledge of Data Centre industry
  • Knowledge of using Salesforce
  • Other European language skills

Waar kom je terrecht?

The role reports into the Managing Director, which is responsible for overall business and sales at the site.
Sales Manager, information technology, telecommunications, property valuation related, business development experience, data centre market.

Wat krijg je?

A good salary between € 6000 and € 7000,- depending on experience & Benefits.
